Subject: OPENING A FEW SPOTS FOR THIS COACH CERTIFICATION PROGRAM...
Dear Friend,
If you want to become a Certified Grief Journey Guide™ and take everything you've learned along your own journey to guide others through the loss of their loved one, or even if you want to give back to you community, church or school system, then this is the most important letter you'll read in 2023!
Here's why...
My name is Eric Hodgdon, and I'm the founder of the nonprofit organization called Your Journey Guided, Inc. ...
I'm not just another dude who claims he understands grief, I know this journey intimately... I'm Zoi's dad and I lost Zoi in early 2014. It was the single most difficult time of my life and the grief that accompanied her loss was something that scared the hell out of me.
When I lost Zoi, I know that I needed a guide. I found myself going online looking for resources to help me to survive the next day and sometime the next hour... But, what I found shocked me...
Most of the resources that I found told me that surviving the loss was pretty much the endgame of this journey of grief...It was the best that I could hope for. Not only that, if I did get to "survival-mode", it was going to be up to me to find the meaning for my life going forward and to determine what was next for me.
Wow... I never felt so lost.
It wasn't until Zoi's friends asked me "What do we do with this?" that I knew I had to do more than just survive this. I had to get back up. And so, their push gave me the energy, direction and PURPOSE to fight not only for their better days, but mine as well so that we could ultimately live beyond our loss. But, we needed a way take those next steps forward...
What a lot of people don't know, is that every day I receive emails from grieving women and men who are looking for the SAME path towards their better days - they're looking for the resources to help them too. And they are running into the same challenges that you and I have run into - Survival. But mostly, they feel lost AND alone. Have you ever felt that way after the loss of a loved one, too?
Over the last 9 years, I've been able to connect with, moms and dads, husbands and wives, friends, families, corporate leaders, even high school and college students - all who are trying to understand how they will navigate their losses.
And of the hundreds of people I have connected with and coached, many don't know where to start, what to do, who to turn to, or where to go for help, and so they also feel like the best that they can hope for is to survive their loss - on their own...
Some of my coaching clients and, though, HAVE found their better days and ARE living their lives fully again beyond the loss of their loved one.
But most are barely surviving... And I'm not good with that...
So I asked my thriving coaching clients...
I didn't know how they were going to respond because I was asking them to bring up difficult memories, but I was also hopeful of they would reach deep inside of their healed memories to share what worked for them.
I didn't want their responses to be rushed and so I gave them time to think about their responses.
Some sent emails that detailed exactly how they would navigate their grief again - this time with a SOLID plan.
Most of the responses I received came with guidance strategies and tools that worked for them during their darkest moments early on.
Others told me that they just wanted something proven and realistic to work this time around. But, ALL of them said that if they had been given a personal guide through the grief, they felt that it would have accelerated their healing and most importantly, they would make that connection, FASTER... What they were telling me is that "Grief Sucks and they want to feel better knowing there is an IMPACTFUL, HELPFUL and POWERFUL strategy and tools that WORKS."
And the funny thing was, a lot of them told me they wished that their family, friends and STRANGERS who told them to "Get over it" - would have learned a different approach vs trying to bend them towards an unrealistic agenda or timeline of healing...
As I continued to read and re-read the email responses, I found some incredible similarities. Just like I found the energy, direction and purpose to help Zoi's friends, my family and the hundreds of people who are struggling with their grief, my coaching clients wanted to take their grief and repurpose their pain into purpose, too!
It was emotionally powerful to not only see that level of healing that has taken place, but their desire to turn their pain into purpose made me tear up even more.
As amazing as it might sound, the responses I was getting CONFIRMED the need for more grief journey guides.
At first I wasn't sure how this would go. All I knew is that the more you help others, the more you help yourself heal at the same time. And, it's ok to have both!
So, I emailed back each and every one of my former coaching clients...
At first, a few of them thought they wouldn't be able to help many people…
But then one said Yes…
And then another!
I hope that you will join us on our journey to help 10,000 families to live beyond the loss of their loved ones. The narrative of grief needs to change. I am building a team of coaches that can AND WILL change the narrative of grief now and long after we have passed away. Let's walk together
Thanks Again
P.S.
